At the doctor's

The aim of this activity is to use the vocabulary related to illnesses and treatments or ailments in case of an emergency or just when you feel ill.
Three sessions will be needed:  warm-up activities (tasks 1-2), create a new role-play (task 3), show your recordings to your classmates.

Task 1:
Study the vocabulary worksheets to practise words and expressions related to health and illnesses.
The language assistant will help you understand new words.

Task 2:
The class is divided into two groups: the doctors and the patients. Each patient gets a card with his/her illness. Each doctor gets a card with a treatment.  The language assistant helps with pronunciation.

After understanding your cards, it’s time to find your partner “doctor-patient” by means of saying how you feel.

Once the pairs are found, check the information given about each illness.
Study your lines and do the role-play.

Start an exchange of cards around the classroom.  Do the same with a different illness.

Task 3:
Create a new situation. Think of an illness and its treatment or ailment.
Write the script of the gag using what you’ve learnt. Then show your lines to the teacher so that possible mistakes can be corrected. Study your lines dramatizing the situation. Take into account the stress and pronunciation of words.

Task 4:
Each gag is filmed and later on edited. If the sound is not good enough, add English subtitles to your recording.
